URL is the full link to the page you are trying to open. That should include the server or host name (e.g. www.cerritos.edu), any directory or folder names (e.g. /edt1windows/discussion/) and a file name (e.g. post.asp). An easy way to capture the link to a page is to copy the address in the address window of the browser. This will now always work especially if you have been redirected to an error page. The full URL above would look like this http://www.cerritos.edu/edt1windows/discussion/post.asp.

Error message is the text that appears on the screen after you have failed to load the page in your browser—i.e. Internet Explorer or Netscape. A simple way to send the error message is to copy the text of the error message and paste that into your email message. Some error messages are built into the script and are written to the screen while other errors trigger redirection to standard error pages that appear when certain criteria are not met. Other errors can occur when database connections or connections to other server objects fail. Finally, your browser can present a default error page to you every time a connection to the web page fails or times out. In any case, simply highlight and copy all the text of the error message and paste it into the body of your email message or the Web Administrator support form at http://www.cerritos.edu/tbowman/comments.htm.

Student Number is a unique number assigned to students upon registration at the College. It is unique because no other student registered at Cerritos College has that number. It serves as a unique identifier for all student logins and as a very accurate method for tracking student enrollment and other activities related to College business. Not even a student’s name or email address is as helpful as their student number in troubleshooting technical issues.

Browser is usually Internet Explorer, Netscape or AOL. Please give one of those browser names and the version number. The version number is usually found under "Help" or "About" on the menu.

Cookie settings are found in your browser usually under options or preferences. They relate to privacy issues on one level and from a technical stance they perform a very valuable function by enabling user “sessions” to be kept open from one page to another. You need to enable cookies at least for the domain you are trying to reach in order to use the E-Courses Course Management System.

Sending the above information along with your request for support will greatly increase the efficiency with which I or my staff can service your request. Thanks for your cooperation.
