Welcome to English 100, Freshman Composition!
Instructor: Ms. Suzanne Crawford
Schedule
Students may find it helpful to read what other students have written regarding how to be successful in this class: Letters.
Also:
A Tale of Two Students.
Welcome to English 100! I
earnestly hope this class will prove to be a great learning experience for
you. As we begin this semester, let us recall how our ideas, beliefs, and
attitudes, influence our success in any endeavor: “It is our attitude more than anything
else, that will effect [bring about; put into effect] a successful outcome” (William James).
With this in mind, I embark on this semester with the expectation that it will
be my best, my most successful, ever. May it be so for you, too, as you
grow as writers and thinkers.

English 100, Josephine Student, Question
See here for more information about email subject lines.
Also, please note that all papers must be submitted in two (2) forms.
1. First, you must submit your papers to turnitin.com by the deadline stipulated in the syllabus (How To), and
2. second, you must submit a copy of your essay to the appropriate place at TalonNet. Papers need all formatting compliant with MLA form and to be saved as Word (*.docx) or Word 97-2002 (*.doc). This should be done before midnight on the day that your paper is due.*
Failure to do either of these two actions by their respective deadlines could result in a late-paper penalty!
*Note (this note should be out of date as of implementation of TalonNet in fall 2009): you must email a copy of your paper to yourself (and/or keep a copy in your sent file). In the event of any lost or bounced email message, the burden of proof of when you sent it will be on you.

“My will shall shape the future. Whether I fail or succeed shall be no man's doing but my own. I am the force; I can clear any obstacle before me or I can be lost in the maze. My choice; my responsibility; win or lose, only I hold the key to my destiny.” Elaine Maxwell
“We have not passed that subtle line between childhood and adulthood until we move from the passive voice to the active voice -- that is, until we stop saying ‘It got lost,’ and say ‘I lost it.’” Stanley J. Harris
“The price of greatness is responsibility.” Winston Churchill
